Meeting Minutes

January 9th, 2012

Minutes approved for last meeting.  1st by Bill Roe, 2nd John OÕHearn – no changes

FINANCE:  BILL

Current balance of $16,000.  Good Northwest Runner Magazine monthly contribution.  Will have large amount in Accounts Receivables from Resolution Run.

Winter Grand Prix should make more than a Break-even this year.  Costs still low with good volunteer turnout each event.

MEMBERSHIP:  VANESSA

Committee Initiatives:  CNW Membership ÒExperienceÓ

This includes Letters (David and Carl are working on updating the membership letter one receives upon registration, being consistent).  Cards (working on a proposal to fund printing membership cards).  Database (getting membership base into online system and away from spreadsheets.  Adding 120 new members by the end of January.

Looking at doing more surveys (what CNW does well & what we need to work on).  Member of the Month (Volunteer Award, Appreciation Award, PR of the Month).  Selling merchandise online (uniforms). 

Completed the membership homepage – cleaned up website & Membership sign-up forms.

Current membership to date is 354 under the Orange umbrella.  Lifetime membership is only $750!!

Focusing on continued CNW quarterly social events (Winter/Summer Solstice runs/picnics) alternating Eastside/Seattle.

Sunday morning runs continue with volunteers stepping up to lead 9:00 am runs throughout the Puget Sound.  Usually 6-10 per run.

Update the social media sites regularly with ÒhappeningsÓ that CNW members would like to know about (Facebook & Twitter)

WomenÕs Open ~ 4th (led by Katie FolletÕs 3rd);  WomenÕs 40+ ~ 1st (led by GwenÕs 2nd);  WomenÕs 50+ ~ 2nd(Miriam Zderic 2nd);  MenÕs Open ~ 6th (Joe Gray);  MenÕs 40+ ~ 5th (Ben S.);  MenÕs 50+ ~ 1st (Joe Sheeran 2nd);  MenÕs 60+ ~ 4th

Brooks Sponsorship

á       CNW/Brooks gear contracts have been sent to our top 18 athletes.  Each athlete will sign a contract so that expectations are known and kept.

á       Brooks is looking for large support from CNW for the HS PR Invite at the Dempsey Indoor on February 26th.  Many are eager to watch and help!

Team uniforms – Meghan Lyle is working through the new Brooks line to get our new uniforms sorted out.

Volunteer(ing) will reach out to the entire Club and not just Teams.

Website updates on teams. 

Laura Mickelson is handling the Sports Reaction Center (SRCPT) sponsorship – sending out welcome letter with free gait analysis.

Kathy Edris is updating all the Athlete Profiles on the website replacing Kimery Hern.  Stan Chraminski will be updating the CNW Race Walking Team!!

EVENTS:  BILL

Handout (6 pages!!) with the following information summary:

Magnuson Series – Complete year with participants ranging from 140 – 319 running 5k – half marathon, duathalon, team races.

PNTF – 12 year history with participants ranging from 53 – to our best year (2011) of 188

Winter Grand Prix – Nearly 200 registrants for this yearÕs series.  Lots of great volunteers making this event a success.  Thanks to Shelley Neal, Nick Fleming, Kenny Emerick, Al Bonney, Brian Oster, and Rex Philpott.  Moshe Gordon of Nathan Hale HS has coordinated the volunteers.

USATF CLUB NATIONALS – WE ROCKED!!  Three page handout on this event alone. 

Resolution Run – 50 CNW volunteers for the 35th Annual Event.  Record turnout of 2,165 entrants.

2012 Events will include the same as above and also Spring Break Open at either Shoreline, West Seattle or KingÕs, Earth Day Runs at Magnuson Park, Tacoma and Bellingham, All Comers with ChildrenÕs Hospital as a possible sponsor.

Also discussed PME contract, Storage for equipment, Equipment – cones, pop-ups & changes to our metal stanchions, and the Timing System

NORTHWEST RUNNER:  MARTIN

Discussed that Heather would take over as Editor for the magazine going forward.  Martin is going to Houston, TX to attend a National Convention and gain some good referral contacts and insight into what is coming down the pike.

NEW BUSINESS:

Work on Annual Meeting in March and make more of a Social Meeting.  We will be nominating new Board Members and Discuss Goal Setting and Strategic Planning
