Meeting Minutes

No previous minutes to approve – Shelley took minutes last month and was not present to distribute.

FINANCIAL REPORT:  Bill

Current balance of $23,973.12  $2,715 was spent on a Digital Clock to be used at the Finish line for CNW events (& time our length of meeting).  Tested at the UW meet and it looks great.  Profit from the Resolution Run 2010 was $11,038.60!!

5000 Ribbons of various colors, were purchased for $1,100.  These should last for the next two years at our Summer All Comers meets.

Discussion of Summer Track Nationals @ San Francisco and the costs of staying at a Days Inn for $150 per room per night.

NORTHWEST RUNNER REPORT:  Bill

April’s deposit of $4,866 brings the year-to-date total to $30,702!!  Best start to any year so far.

MEMBERSHIP & WEBSITE:  Ed H & Chuck

Handouts showing promotion of SUNDAY MORNING RUNS.  Looking for volunteers to host ALL levels of runners.  These runs will rotate around the Puget Sound and be led by various CNW athletes/Board members.  Each run will be posted on the CNW website to promote traffic.

The Inaugural Run!

The first run will be on Sunday, June 20 at Saint Edwards State Park. Website will have complete details and directions.

Chuck told of a virus that was on our website that was being removed.   Wait to go there.  Should take 48 hours to clean up.  Using GoDaddy

Working on Online Athlete Bio Journal entries.  Almost ready to implement.   This Bio would include Events, PR’s, College, with email links for response.

Need to gather all email addresses of members to alert them without using a more costly and slower use of “snail mail.”

EVENTS:  Bill

Pub Run Idea tossed around.  Not to be confused with a Beer Mile!  Just nice leisurely jogs between area pubs on a weekday afternoon/evening, enjoying the delicious libations of the Pacific Northwest.  John and Tony have done one of these on the Eastside (Redmond) this past Winter to work out the details.  May have to continue testing to get it right?

Magnuson Series - There are two Magnuson Series runs in the next few weeks:
-- The Memorial Weekend run is this Saturday at Magnuson Park, usual 10am start, and usual 5k - 10k - 15k solo runs and 2-person team and 4-person relay races, plus our growing 9:45am kid's run (two options this month, including a longer route for the older kids.)
-- The Fathers Day Weekend run is Saturday, June 19, and has special team competition featuring dads and kids.  Also Saturday, July 17 is the monthly Magnuson Series run, and the first anniversary of the series' kick-off!  But, in addition to our usual features, this race includes a Washington Games tee-shirt and medal awards for age division place-winners at no additional charge!

Working on a massage contract for athletes.  Looking at costs, etc,..

Discussion on WHY we should send a team to Club Track Nationals in San Francisco?  How many athletes are planning to attend and pay their way with up to $200 reimbursements for scoring points?  Have to decide by next meeting.

Results: 

CNW with top two Washington finishers at the prestigious Bloomsday race in both men and women!!

Kimery wins Hammer at the Oregon Relays.  Will wins Hammer & Discus!!

“Discussed the Club supporting Steve Ferreira (a handicapped athlete) and promoting the disabled at one of our Summer All Comers meets.”  Motion for $250 sponsorship.  1st – Saul, 2nd Ed H, passed unanimously.

Masters Track and Field Championships in Sacramento on July 22 – 25.  Reimburse athletes for entry fees if requested.
