MEETING MINUTES

July 12, 2014

 

BOARD:  BILL ROE, BRIAN KUTZERA, DAVID WHITE-ESPIN, ED HAYWOOD, SAUL KINDERIS, SPENCER WALSH, TOM POTTER, CARL WINTER, TALIA RINGER, RICK ALBRIGHT, KIMBER HINSON, LAURA MICKELSON (7:30pm)

Meeting called to order at 7:04 PM – Motion to approve the May meeting minutes-Ed 1st, Saul 2nd, but those who had not read the minutes abstained. May minutes approved. Bill would like to make a change to release minutes by the Executive Committee Meeting  

PRESIDENT REPORTED

 Club Nationals was an awesome display of CNW athletes and their dedication to the club especially Ryan Brown, Levi Keller, and Amber McCulloch  

NORTHWEST RUNNERHEATHER

Volunteers needed for Seafair Torchlite and Seattle Marathon. Heather will contact Kimber regarding this.

$28,000 from NW Runner through June

June check has not arrived 

FINANCE:  BRIAN

$28,000 from NW Runner, which is slightly below plan

Action-Bill will send Brain spreadsheet of typical income/month from NW Runner

$9,000 for Club Track Nats has been paid

Cross country is the only large expense remaining

There may be $1600 coming back from Becca for Club Nats

Events account looks okay and we should have enough for Reso Run expenses

 MEMBERSHIP:  CARL for VANESSA

Solstice run was a success with about 25 attendees

Sunday run on hiatus for summer, which will start back on Labor Day

Gear page is up and running on CNW website

Action: Everyone check out gear page and provide feedback  

TEAM:  SAUL

MenÕs and WomenÕs team both placed 2nd at Club Track Nats

$1500 for each team, which will be split 50/50 with athletes and the team

Youth update (Gavin): 15 kids qualified for Jr. Nats and 6/15 will go compete in Houston 

*Team continues to grow (>30 athletes this year versus 7 athletes four years ago)

*Microsoft has been matching $17/hour for GavinÕs volunteer work (670 hours)

XC team meetings will be in August and team captains will be put into place

EVENTS:  BILL

Club Track Nats was small this year and could potentially be held in NY each year with a sliding entry fee based on where team lives

Firecracker had a decline in entries and could be because it was on a Thurs./Fri, which has historically had lower number of entries

All-comers are going very well so far and could be a record-breaking year.

Magnuson series is having 5th Anniversary

There are two opportunities to teach the timing/chip system: Viking Run (Aug. 16) and I Heart Nerds at Marymoore

The money earned from the chip timing system has been going into our general account, which should be taxed and has not been  

 

COMMUNICATIONS:  Laura

 Frank created a story on CNW elite women runners who have recently had babies for Competitor Magazine-will be featured in Buzz Worthy section in September

Adventures Northwest Magazine is highlighting running clubs in the PNW and CNW will be included

Lois has been tracking athlete results through a Google doc

            -Club Track Nats post reached over 2,481 people 

OLD BUSINESS:  ED

Martin/publisher position-Saul, Ed and Vanessa are asking for feedback and help regarding the hiring process

            -There are 3 people interested

NEW BUSINESS:  ED

The process to decide the new publisher position will be as follows:

1.     The committee will review the applications

2.     Date for the executive meeting will be set

3.     Written questions will be given to the candidates

4.     Packets of information on each candidate will be distributed

5.     Standard verbal questions will be given at executive meeting

6.     Top 1-3 candidates will come to the board

7.     The board will vote and candidate will be chosen

NOTABLE PERFORMANCES: Tom

Mark Bloudek pulled everyone together and managed 40 athletes. He had tremendous energy!
