CONTRACTORS: Lance Giles, Chuck Bartlett, Becca
Openings: Meeting called to order at 7:37PM.
Minutes: John O’Hearn
No motions to
approve minutes from either July or August-but June minutes were approved in
July. July meeting had no major
issues to vote on-notes were misplaced by Nick, he is still looking for them (
he was acting Secretary for July) and August was a no quorum meeting due to
vacation absences by many of the board members.
John OHearn to send
June minutes to Chuck for posting on the website.
FINANCIAL REPORT: Bill Roe via phone
- Aggregate account
balances are ~$21,000
- We are considering
purchasing two CDs for relatively short-term rates, possibly from Bank of
America where we have our checking account
- We still have some
income pending from Resolution Run and Brian Oster still working on final
numbers from Firecracker.
- Northwest Runner- Martin
reported $8000 this month-due to his new payment plan, he gets 70% of
this, Club Northwest gets 30%
- Discussed basic budget
of $5000 for Club Nationals Cross Country in Spokane-covered in more
detail under teams.
MEMBERSHIP: Becca Gillespy/Nick Fleming
- Garage sale netted $635, Becca will not
host it next year, and we need to consider doing it at All-Comers or at
some other event. Had a few
members help out but could have used more volunteers
- At the team cross country meeting
before tonight’s board meeting, Becca sold $195 in uniforms and gear.
- Becca supplied us with an updated
membership list and also recently expired members. We discussed the possibility of
having board members contact those with their memberships expired-nothing
decided for sure.
- See financial above-Martin and Bill
were not present but Bill called in the report.
EVENTS: Becca Gillespy
- All-Comers –record attendance this year 4500 total
entrants, revenue was $15,000, and Club Northwest netted $3000-very
successful series. Shoreline is a slam dunk for next year at this point.
- Dates have been tentatively determined
for the New Balance/Club Northwest Grand Prix series and we will hold all
races at Magnuson Park again except for the track race at Nathan Hale.
- Still no wrap-up of the Resolution Run-this
note is from May 2008 and still pending.
- Garage sale mentioned above, while we
did $635 overall, a good portion $250 was from one sale (thanks to Becca’s
TEAM: Shelley Neal/Becca Gillespy
- Becca is working on ordering more
uniforms and gear-long discussion of what the elite women should have to
run in-comfort first. We did
not come to a resolution this week-still working on Brooks but they do not
appear to have what a majority of our women really want with regards to
tops, considering the shimmels.
- It was suggested that even with a
budget of $5000 for Club Nationals Cross Country, the athletes that do not
represent the top 5 in the men’s and women’s open teams pay $100 toward
the trip to Spokane
- We are considering a bus rental for the
December Spokane trip-Shelley will put a budget together and get back to
the board, most likely we will stay at the Meet Headquarters hotel again
- Also to be considered is Regional
competition-also in Spokane 11/22/08 so we may split a bus with another
local running club-TBD.
Budget for this will be considered after we settle on Club
- The Cross Country meeting covered what
will most likely be the requirements to make the travel teams for Club
Northwest Cross Country. It
may be best 3 out of 4 meets and this year it will be all cross country;
we will not use a road race as part of the qualification process. The actual meets are still being
considered but a complete list of all fall cross country meets has been
added to the website.
- A “Legends of Club Northwest” cross
country team is still being planned for the Club Nationals in December
2008 at Spokane. Herm Atkins
and Don Kardong may run for Club Northwest-according to Tom Cotner/Kevin McGinnis
- Club Northwest was well-represented at
USATF Masters Nationals in Spokane with 7 gold medals, 3 silvers and 8
scorekeeping was somewhat suspect and we did not place as well as we
thought we should have (Tom Cotner).
- At Super Jock and Jill on 9/1/08 we had
7 age-group champions of the PNTF ½ Marathon Championships
WEB: Chuck Bartlett
- Will update the website
with new board members, etc before October meeting
- Has added cross
country meet schedule and other pertinent details
made to adjourn by Tony Robinson at 8:55PM and seconded by Nick.
Next meeting 10/13/08
