·         2005    Inducted into the PLU hall of fame

·         NAIA runner up 400m hurdles 

·         1st woman to break 60 seconds in the 400m hurdles in Washington State

·         Holds 2K steeple chase world record W45

·         Holds 400m hurdle national record W45

·         Multiple National Championships as a master in club cross country (individual and team) and track.

Volunteer work:  I put on monthly fun runs at my local elementary school,  timer at local high school meets, local all-comers meets,  and keynote speaker at "Woman and Girls in Sports" conferences and local Rotary club.

Personal Info:  Karen grew up in Lacey, WA and teaches physical education at the same school she attended.  She is married to Mike Steen, and has three children:  Kyle, Mariah and Jakob.  Karen runs so she can eat many desserts.
