Many Club Northwest runners took a break from their hectic summer racing schedules to prepare for XC season; nevertheless, we still had some amazing performances.  Joe Gray just got back from his second of three European trips this late summer.  He had two races in Austria, won both, and set the course record in the first race. Joe already held the record for the second race so he just went on for my 3rd win there, and he succeeded!

Philip Welch has had a busy last few weekends of racing.  Philip traveled to Boston to visit his son, Nick, before leaving for a two week bike trip in France.  There’s nothing more fun than running a road race while visiting another city, and Philip found a 5K to run with his son.  Not only did they get to run a fun race, the Brian Honan 5K Alston, but they also both won their divisions!  This is a “double” that the father and son have done many times over the years.    Philip also won his division at the Anne Jackson Memorial 10K the previous weekend in Mt. Vernon and also at the Labor Day Half in the beginning of the month.   What a great month for Philip, and he gets to enjoy a great European vacation after all of his strong races.

We are looking forward to a busy fall filled with races!
