About
I started running my senior year at Hellgate HS in Missoula, MT. I competed in track and cross country at Pacific Lutheran University, 1973-1977. Moving to Seattle for grad school in Physical Therapy, I joined CNW and competed mostly in cross country (my favorite) and road racing in the early 80's, meeting Bill Roe and being coached by Alan Bonney. There were 10k's almost every weekend back then, and I especially liked the all-women races - Moving Comfort, Bonne Bell, and Sportswest Women's Run. Raising a family and working took most of my time for awhile, but I kept running for fitness and with my kids. I tried to get back to racing shape, but developed arthritis and had to have total knee replacements. I still miss running, but walk, bike and kayak for exercise, and enjoyed watching my kids compete, and now my grandkids.
