About
Growing up, I was the kid who could never sit still and found running and swimming as outlets for my excess energy. I swam competitively for 11 years and was recruited to swim at West Point, but was medically disqualified due to poor eyesight. I ended up attending the University of Texas at Austin and joined the Triathlon team, where I realized that despite being far ahead after the swim, I quickly lost ground during the bike and run. While focusing on improving my run times, I fell back in love with running. I ran my first marathon in 2013 and haven't looked back since!
I took a short hiatus from sports from October 2016 through May 2018 (with the exception of the Boston Marathon) and lived abroad in New Zealand and Australia on a Working Holiday Visa. I traveled and worked agriculture and hospitality jobs such as picking and packing kiwifruit, waitressing, packing fish, milking cows, and serving as the House Captain of a hostel. Although I didn't train much during this period, I met incredible people from all over the world and gained a new perspective on my purpose in life, our country, and the beautiful planet that we live in.
When I returned back to the States in 2018, I met my now-girlfriend, Rachel during a Hood to Coast Relay. She competed in XC for CNW that Fall and while cheerleading for her, I got to also meet many of her wonderful teammates. It didn't take much more to convince me to be a part of the supportive CNW community and to train and compete with the best!
