Nick first ran competitively between his sophomore year of high school and his sophomore year of college. After a long hiatus, he resumed running in 2010 in order to achieve his lifelong aspiration of completing a marathon.

When he is not running, he can usually be found playing with his three children, Finola, Kieran and Seamus.
